AWS was asked to stand up a website for a new competitive AAU program in the Northern Virginia area Nova Heat. The design had already been created so AWS proposed using the content management system, CMS Made Simple, thinking it would be easier to adapt the CMS to the design than the design to the CMS. This website development project was filled with interactive requests which AWS accomplished through the customization of various widgets and plugins including a homepage slider, blog, latest news, calendar, and photo gallery. Sponsors are a critical component to the success of this AAU program so a special area of the website was carved out specifically for sponsor promotion.

Siloquent approached AWS to develop their website. The company was interested in a mobile friendly site that focuses on its core business solutions. The client also requested a homepage image slider. AWS selected WordPress as the content management platform. AWS felt WordPress would offer a flexible platform to meet the clients content and functionality requirements.

SSC approached AWS to build a very simply website to promote the company’s existence and to build awareness about their current clientele. SSC was interested in developing a branding that could be carried over to marketing materials including a corporate logo. Nova Properties is a full service real estate firm serving Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. They approached AWS because their website was very limited in terms of functionality and in need of a facelift. Nova Properties was particularly interested in the property management solution AWS had implemented for Fall Properties. They were eager to manage all areas of their site content – not just the property-specific pages. AWS designed a new look for the site that was flexible to accommodate growth and expansion of navigational elements and implemented the property management solution. Nova Properties currently manages all aspects of their website without technical HTML knowledge.
Heart of America Foundation

AWS assumed web maintenance responsibility for the Heart of America (HOA) website to help the organization work through several design and e-commerce issues. It was quickly realilzed that in order to accommodate the demands of up and coming initiatives, HOA needed a complete website redesign and reorganization of its information architecture. AWS worked with HOA to create a site that is easy to navigate, flexible enough to incorporate new programs and initiatives, and positioned to be maintained by HOA staff.
NIH Clinical Center

AWS began supporting the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center in 2000 with web content updates and basic graphic design support. Starting in 2001 AWS helped develop and recommend strategies for meeting the new Section 508 law governing the accessibility of federal websites. In 2003, AWS project managed the implementation of a Web Content Management System (WCMS), Serena Collage, for the NIH Clinical Center. These activities included conducting preliminary needs analysis, determining information architecture and site navigation, supervising the import of sites into Collage and the subsequent formatting, recoding, and preparation of web pages for content contribution. AWS helped establish Section 508 checks, initiated deployment of sites to production, and trained end users how to use the tool. Until the end of February 2012 AWS staff continued to support the NIH Clinical Center with daily website maintenance tasks, assist with new web page/site creation, monitor OMB, HHS and NIH web policies and procedures, and provide Section 508 compliance and remediation services.
